Free for U.S. K-12 educators

The Claude for Teachers
5-Day Starter Kit

Anthropic made Claude free for verified K-12 educators. Free is the least interesting part.

This kit shows you what to actually do with it: five practical workflows, one per day, each small enough to finish in a planning period. For every one, you get the task, the inputs Claude needs, what it prepares, and what you review before it reaches your classroom.

Free. One email with the kit, then one short workflow email per week. Unsubscribe anytime.

Five days, five workflows

Twenty minutes a day, on real work.

No hypotheticals and no prompt lists you will never open again. Each day uses one real class and one real upcoming objective.

01

A standards-grounded lesson packet

One request, three classroom documents: lesson plan, student materials, and an observation template, grounded in your state's standards.

02

Differentiate a lesson you already teach

Three access levels from one lesson, with the learning target held constant. Access, not tracking.

03

Find the misconception before the worksheet

What students are likely to get wrong, why, and the discussion questions that surface it early.

04

A formative check that tells you what to reteach

A short assessment where wrong answers mean something, with an answer key and a reteach guide.

05

The newsletter that drafts itself and does not send itself

A scheduled weekly family newsletter draft, built from your lesson plans, reviewed by you before it goes anywhere.

Also inside

The parts you will still use in October.

The six-input prompt framework

The repeatable pattern behind every workflow in the kit, with a copy-ready template.

The teacher review checklist

Five questions to ask before any AI draft reaches your classroom. The review is the feature.

The connector reference guide

All ten education connections, from Learning Commons to TeachFX, organized by the teacher job each one does.

Privacy in plain language

What Anthropic actually says about educator data, and the three working rules that stay true regardless.

Part of something bigger

Claude for Teachers: A Field Guide.

This kit is the companion to a 21-day series running July 20 through August 17, 2026. One practical teacher move per weekday: lesson packets, differentiation, misconception planning, class-data workflows, scheduled tasks, all ten education connectors, and the privacy boundaries that still matter.

The premise of both the kit and the series is the same. Claude for Teachers is most useful when it is treated as a teacher workbench, not a prompt box. Grounded inputs go in, a reviewable artifact comes back, and the teacher stays the final instructional decision-maker.

Follow the series on LinkedIn, or let the weekly email bring you the strongest workflow from each week with the details that do not fit in a social post.

Who qualifies for Claude for Teachers

Individual educators working in U.S. K-12 schools: classroom teachers in any subject, instructional coaches, specialists, interventionists, librarians, counselors, and other certificated staff. Verification uses your school email, and Anthropic says educators who sign up by June 30, 2027 receive a full year of free access.

The kit is useful either way: the frameworks and review habits apply to any AI tool your district puts in front of you.

Who wrote this

Steve Troyer spent 22 years in public education, 15 in administration, the last 5 as a superintendent of a 2,500-student district. Willow Run Group is what came next: helping schools and small organizations put AI to work on real operations without the hype.

Every claim in the kit traces to Anthropic’s published documentation, verified July 2026. Where something requires caution, the kit says so.

Start Monday with a plan.

The kit arrives in your inbox as a 12-page PDF. Print it, share it with your team, or work through it one planning period at a time.

Free. One email with the kit, then one short workflow email per week. Unsubscribe anytime.
